WORK

My work bridges dance, community engagement, and creative expression.

FEMALE FRIDAY : Empowering women through dance

Female Friday is a dance initiative launched in 2023 designed to empower women through movement, community and Dancehall-inspired choreographies. The mission is to create a space where women can take up space, express themselves freely, and embody confidence. Each session becomes a celebration of presence, power, and collective energy.I facilitate these sessions with the intention to empower, connect, and honour each woman's unique journey through dance.

MDS : Movement. Development. Synergy

MDS is a non-profit organization launched in October 2019 and officially registered as a non-profit since 2024. It brings together individuals who share a love for dance as a powerful engine of social connection, identity, and expression. Our vision is to build a dynamic and inclusive network where art becomes a vehicle for growth, transformation, and collective empowerment, with Dancehall at the heart of our approach. We offer dance trainings, workshops, and events that bring communities together around a shared love for dance. Our mission is to build a creative and inclusive network where art is at the heart of both individual and collective empowerment.

Teaching : Dance as a tool for connection

I've been teaching Dance (especially Dancehall) since 2015, working with diverse communities and age groups across Montreal and beyond. For me, teaching is not just about steps - it's about creating safe and joyful spaces where people feel seen, heard, and free to move.I currently work as a dance facilitator with PrimaDanse, an organization that uses dance as a tool for social interventions. I also teach with Danse Mode Action, contributing both to their educational programs and to accessible recreational classes. My strength lies in my inclusive and community-rooted approach.

About

I’m Gwladys Bolemua — a dance teacher, multidisciplinary artist, and cultural entrepreneur based in Montreal. My artistic journey began in France, where I studied violin at the conservatory for seven years. At the age of 13, I discovered dance — a turning point that sparked a deep and lasting connection to movement and self-expression.In 2013, I immigrated to Canada. At the time, I was building a professional career in international trade and logistics. I studied business and worked for nearly ten years in the logistics sector before choosing to fully realign my path with what moves me most deeply: dance, community, and creation.I’ve been teaching Dancehall since 2015, sharing my passion with diverse communities and age groups. My teaching approach is rooted in inclusion, cultural respect, and empowerment through movement.I am also the founder and creative force behind MDS (Movement. Development. Synergy.) and Female Friday, two community-based projects that use dance as a tool for growth, healing, and social connection.Today, I combine my artistic, entrepreneurial and community experience to create meaningful dance spaces — where bodies move, stories are shared, and bridges are built.
